Opening the FAQ page

Post by renatorivo »

When I try to access the English FAQ page, the page does not open, and this window appears.
However, when I open the page in another language, everything is normal.

Contents of downloaded file:

Code: Select all

The MediaWiki FAQ can be found at:

Refers to the Mediawiki FAQ, not the FAQ in wiki.freecadweb

Any idea how to fix?

It looks like (in preview mode -- didn't test actually making a change) if you change the links from FAQ to FAQ/en it works. I don't know how to change the link in the sidebar.

All translations work fine: FAQ/en, FAQ/fr, etc. only the original FAQ page does not open. FAQ/ en is an automatic translation of the original FAQ page. To make changes we must be able to open the FAQ page without language codes, otherwise it is no longer possible to make changes to this page.

The link in the sidebar seems correct to me, but it doesn't work: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/FAQ

To edit the sidebar, set the interface to English and then use https://wiki.freecadweb.org/MediaWiki:Sidebar
but I don't know what to change.

I was only thinking to suggest changing the link in the sidebar from FAQ to FAQ/en as a temporary fix until the problem can be solved. Only to suggest, not to do it myself. But now I think this might cause problems for users in other languages.

Most recent change was in February:

https://wiki.freecadweb.org/index.php?t ... on=history

When did it stop working? Did you try to undo the most recent change?

The tab for edit works fine. The preview works fine. Clicking the tab to read downloads the file instead of opening the page. What if you moved the page (to something like FreeCAD_FAQ) would the links to it and the translations get automatically updated? Perhaps there is some conflict with the name FAQ with mediawiki's FAQ. Perhaps there is some recent change to mediawiki that has broken the FAQ page somehow.
