Tutorial series - Freecad introduction for Architects and Revit users

Post by dimitar »

I am starting to create a tutorial series specifically geared for the use of freecad for architects and revit users. It's a straight cut-to-the point, know how to do most basic things in 2-hours type of series.

Here is the first video:

Second one will be coming out soon:

Thanks for the effort :)
Please add FreeCAD version info in the description of the tutorials for future viewers. Things have changed drastically between versions and might change again.

Just watching the Intro-002 :)

Great tutorial !

Some quick observation
  1. Around 4:00, the wall is not showing but there is a Tick on its icon, you may try Recompute
  2. Turn on the Report View - Wall may give you some hint what is wrong if it is not working / updating
  3. Around 6:00, you mention the windows are not in designed position. You may have just edited the underlying sketch and the Sketch Edge Index / Wall face index change, so end up your windows in wrong location
    [EDIT]
  4. Around 36:00: Alternative to use Subtraction in the Combo View ...
    • Double-click the Wall and Task Panel shows up
    • Go back to Model tab and select the Part Object for subtraction
(Can select on the Model also)
    • Go back to Task panel and click Subtraction
    • Then Click +Add, and OK

And, notice in 19:30 you have complex sketch to build wall but it seem doesn't recompute.

I have long trying to use sketch for wall and attempt to debug a number of similar issues with my limited knowledge in python -

Can you share your model (best if you have it at the point where Wall fails) maybe I can have a look.

Again, turning on Report View give you more idea about what is wrong.

Thanks.
