PLM/PDM System

Postby Malkov » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:31 pm

Hello!
I am interesting in need of free enterprise level PLM/PDM system integrated with FreeCAD and other CAD/CAM/CAE programs. If you think it would be nice to have a such system, I need a brainstorming help on its design.

I have an experience in Java, Eclipse application platform, SWT, customisation of Siemens Teamcenter fat client. I study Scala, NoSQL databases, Java EE.

very old wiki page on the subject: Resource_framework_project
There are a number of hits when searching the forums for "PLM, PDM", but some are quite old.

That is a preview of FreeCAD alternative interface...

A PLM/PDM system is an environment where a huge teams work on some complex and agile product. Engineers develop an engineering bill of materials, then technologists develop a manufacturing bill of materials, then workers execute technological processes. Each 3D model or draft is a revision of some dataset for some revision of some item (account for detail/assembly/product/service/idea) that has an effectivity in defined revisions of other items and has a workflow for digital signing and is linked with many other revisions of entities by typed relations. PLM/PDM system is essential if you want to use CAD/CAM/CAE in enterprises.

There is free docdokuplm. It is a WEB-based JavaEE application with SQL database in ground. I want try to develop an application with NoSQL or mixed SQL/NoSQL ground and integration with FreeCAD by default. If it will be a WEB-based application, could I put a frame on HTML5 page with a 3D viewer powered by FreeCAD?

I found in a other video openplm:
http://www.openplm.org/trac
http://www.openplm.org/docs/2.0/en/user ... eecad.html

Was it already tested with 0.16/0.17?

There has been no new version of OpenPLM for the past 4 years. Very early on, there was a plug-in for FreeCAD - you may find a forum topic if you make a search. But for a long time now, there has been no mention of FreeCAD on OpenPLM's website.

If someone tested OpenPLM with FreeCAD 0.16/0.17, I haven't seen a topic about it.

Sorry, it seems I was wrong about OpenPLM having no FC plug-in. But it only supports FC 0.10/0.11.
