32Bit version for Windows? 0.19? 0.18.4?

Postby IngoMeier » Mon Oct 28, 2019 9:55 am

Hi!

Will there be a 32Bit Windows version of 0.19 (near future?)?

Am I the only one, who needs the 32Bit version?

There are multiple reasons for a 32Bit version.
From my experience Windows 64Bit takes much more memory and that is worse on 4GB systems.

We have one system we will upgrade to Windows 10 32Bit where old software is running. This software will
not run on 64Bit systems at all and there are no updates available. But we need FreeCAD there too.
This is my/our main issue.

Thanks,
Ingo

There will be a 0.18.4 32 bit (hopefully by the weekend)

0.19 is tougher as I have to build a whole Libpack for 32 bit, no promises on this.

@Ingo,
… you are not the only one, who would like to have a FC_0.19.18xxx 32bit-version.
My PC could also do 64 bit, but 4 years ago I decided to 32 bit, for some old software,
and now I don't want to reconfigurate it (never change….)
No more thrill with a pre - combined with some activity restraint.

No promises, I know, but may I ask, if there is a chance?
And if yes, any progress already?

Thanks!

Maybe you guys can help having the libpack set up instead of just crossing your fingers. ;)

How could one know? Also this sounds very sad to me if you only do things in your life that you already know how-to... Beginning of the end.

I started as a Design person, not a CAD person, and not a software person.
Maybe that's why we don't have a 32 bit Win Libpack?

Seriously though, I still hope to find the time to learn how to do this.
