change sketch after edits in Part/PartDesign

Postby aster94 » Sun Nov 10, 2019 6:11 pm

Hello,

I thought that i finished my model, I already made the fillets, boolean stuff in Part and PArt Design but now I realized that I missed some little stuff. How can I edit the original sketches and reflect the changes in the already finished part?
if i edit the sketch the edits doesn't reflect on the finished part, I know i can re-do the steps but maybe i am missing something?

PS: I also run the "refine geometry" which created a new part

okkk, please do not consided the sketch and part called engraving

So I made two skecthes called "circle" and "base" from these i made two extrution so two part then from a tutorial i found that before using the part design was a good habit to refine the geometry and i did it so another two new part items. Then i joined the two refined part with a boolean creating the body "Body" i made a fillet and I thought that that was all
Today i decided to change one size inside the skecth "circle" and i saw that the change didn't reflected on the final body.

I am pretty sure that my workflow isn't optimal since i just started with FC, what did i wrong?

problem 1: I can see that the refined object aren't children of the two sketches (if i am not wrong) so i guess the problem is here, what can i do?
problem 2: in part design i created the body from the two refined parts and it looks like that the inheritance is lost (if i am not wrong, again), what can i do in this case?

okkk i found a better workflow

please use this file instead of the above (the boolean stuff here is cleaner)

But there are still the two problem: all the changes done in the refined part and later in the part that become a body haven't any kind of inheritance from their "parents"
Am i doing something wrong?

I'll have a look later on when I'll have a computer. But I'm pretty confident that one will give you some clues in between. ;)

You shouldn't use the PartDesign fillet - although it is possible -, use the Part fillet instead. The body with its BaseFeature is the first copy you create.

The PartRefine operation creates another copy which is not linked to its source. Since there is nothing to refine it is just a simple copy. If you really have something to refine, then I recommend to set the Refine property of the last operation to true. In your case that would have been the fusion, but as said before, it does nothing.

I attach the file with Part fillet.

How about doing it a different way. Full control of all the radius'.

okkkk I will remember this for the future!

If you mean the the preference>part design I just enabled this

Very nice approach!

You can do it that way or you set it individually in the Data tab at the left lower corner.
