You can do it like this, but why, it's easier to make a single pad?
In this case yes, and whenever possible you should indeed use the PartDesign mirror. But if the mirrors don't touch it is impossible. I had a similar task:

The blue pipe connectors have the same non trivial base with pads, additive and subtractive pipes, so it was reasonable to model them only once, but they have different extensions.

I guess this just shows that asking a question, is an art in itself!
Shame that there is so much slackness in written communication, considering it is so prevalent these days.

Being unable to mirror an entire body is a serious shortfall in PartDesign, but given the single solid limitation I do understand it.

You probably didn't save before upload. There is no mirror in the file.
No I did not, that was on the purpose to see if someone used a different mirror approach - indeed Bance used it in the "Part Design" and
that way it works. My problem is that I was trying to do it in "part" using this button (thx for the tip about embedding pictures):

Doing that and even choosing to merge the parts together I get to the problem of not having an active part or something...

Exactly, I just wanted to provide a simple quick and dirty example to come to the solution. Indeed, my business case was a little bit more complex one. I already solved my real problem without mirroring a thing, but I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue, as it is not the first time I ran into this. "Part Design" it is - thanks a lot for the help!

Sorry, I merely posted the files referenced. I did not even open FreeCAD.
